  • What Were They Thinking?

An article in Tuesday’s Washington Post tells us that:

Yesterday, Bush called nearly every member of Texas’s Republican delegation, GOP aides said. He reached four of the 19.

Presumably, the “GOP aides” cited in the story are GOP supporters. If so, why in the world would they put out the word that the most powerful man on the planet could get only four of 19 House Republicans to take his call. The impression left makes neither the President nor the Members of Congress look good.

“Is the Congressman in please? The President is calling. Hello? Hello?”

  • Unfortunate Quote of the Day

In a Reuter story about how the economic downturn is impacting Las Vegas, one local restaurant manager (whose goal should have been to give people reasons why they want to come to his city) was quoted saying this:

Matthew Glazier, co-owner of Strip House, a high-end steak house above Planet Hollywood’s casino, said that business since it opened a year ago has been around what he expected.

“People know when they come to Vegas they are going to spend a little more than they can afford,” he said.

Yeah, that’ll bring in the customers.
